• Power: The conventional power ranges from 10W to 50W, and the common specifications are 20W, 30W and 35W, which can be selected according to the size of the space.
• Chips: Divided into COB (Chip on Board) and SMD (Surface Mount Device). Among them, COB chips have more concentrated light efficiency and more uniform light spots, suitable for accent lighting; SMD chips have softer light, suitable for flood lighting.
• Color Rendering Index (Ra): For general commercial scenarios, Ra ≥ 80 is required to meet basic color reproduction; for scenarios with high requirements for color reproduction such as clothing, jewelry and museums, Ra ≥ 90–95 is required to truly restore the original color of the items.
• Color Temperature: The range is 2700K–6000K. Among them, 2700K–3000K is warm white light, suitable for creating a warm atmosphere (residential decoration, restaurants); 4000K is neutral white light, suitable for offices and supermarkets; 5000K–6000K is cool white light, suitable for exhibition halls, operating rooms and other spaces that require clear vision.
• Beam Angle: 15°–60°. Small angles (15°–30°) are used for spotlighting to light up paintings, exhibits and commodities; medium angles (36°–60°) are used for illuminating shelves and walls; large angles (>60°) are used for flood lighting to provide basic auxiliary lighting.
2. Traditional Light Source Track Light (Halogen/Metal Halide Lamps, Basically Obsolete)
• Features: High energy consumption, large heat generation, short service life (only 1000–5000 hours), dazzling light, and contains harmful substances such as mercury, with poor environmental protection.
• Applications: Only used for some special retro scenarios or replacement of old equipment, with no new demand.
2.3 By Optical Purpose
• Track Spotlight: Narrow beam angle (15°–30°), focusing on accent lighting, used to highlight single exhibits, clothing, paintings, etc., and enhance visual focus.
• Track Flood Light: Wide beam angle (45°–90°), focusing on basic/auxiliary lighting, used to illuminate the entire space or large-area walls, creating a uniform lighting atmosphere.
• Track Grille Light: Equipped with anti-glare grilles, which can effectively reduce glare caused by direct light, improve visual comfort, and is suitable for high-end commercial spaces, office areas, libraries, etc.
3. Key Parameters & Selection Guide
• Color Rendering Index (Ra): One of the core purchasing indicators. Select according to the scenario: Ra ≥ 80 for general commercial use, and Ra ≥ 90 for high-end color rendering scenarios (clothing, jewelry, museums). The higher the value, the more realistic the color reproduction.
• Beam Angle: Select according to lighting needs. Choose 15°–24° for accent lighting, 36°–60° for shelf and wall lighting, and >60° for basic lighting. Avoid poor lighting effects caused by mismatched beam angles and scenarios.
• Power & Brightness: The power needs to be adapted to the size of the space. Choose 20W–35W for commercial scenarios and 10W–20W for residential scenarios; the brightness reference value is 80–120 lm/W (lumens per watt). The higher the value, the higher the lighting efficiency and the more energy-saving.
• Heat Dissipation Performance: High-quality track lights adopt die-cast aluminum/cold-forged aluminum integrated lamp bodies, combined with finned heat dissipation structures, which can quickly dissipate the heat generated by LEDs during operation and ensure the service life of the lamps (the service life of high-quality LED track lights can reach more than 50,000 hours); avoid choosing plastic lamp bodies, which have poor heat dissipation and are easy to cause lamp damage.
• Track Specification Matching: When purchasing, it is necessary to confirm that the lamp connector is consistent with the track wire count (2-wire/3-wire/4-wire), otherwise it cannot be installed; at the same time, pay attention to the track material and load-bearing capacity to avoid track deformation caused by overweight lamps.
• LED Driver: Priority is given to constant-current drivers, which have strong stability and can avoid damage to the lamp caused by voltage fluctuations; for lamps that support dimming function, it is necessary to confirm that the driver matches the dimming method (leading edge/trailing edge/0-10V/DALI).
4. Advantages
• Extreme Flexibility: The lamps can slide freely on the track, and the angle can be adjusted at will. Later, the lighting layout can be flexibly adjusted according to the space layout and usage needs without rewiring.
• Energy Saving & Long Lifespan: LED track lights are more than 70% energy-saving compared with traditional halogen lamps, and their service life is more than 10 times that of traditional light sources, which can greatly reduce the later use and maintenance costs.
• Improve Spatial Hierarchy: Suitable for main-light-free design, avoiding the sense of oppression caused by main lights, not reducing the floor height, and can create a spatial atmosphere with a sense of hierarchy through light of different angles and brightness, improving the spatial texture.
• Safety & Environmental Protection: Adopt LED light source, low blue light, no flicker, avoid eye damage; no harmful substances such as mercury and lead, low heat radiation, safer and more environmentally friendly to use.
• Easy Maintenance: Modular design, a single lamp can be replaced separately without overall disassembly, and will not affect the normal use of the entire lighting system, making maintenance convenient.
5. Typical Applications
• Commercial Retail: Clothing stores, jewelry stores, supermarkets, boutique exhibition halls, etc. Highlight the texture of goods through accent lighting, attract customers' attention, and improve the grade of goods.
• Cultural Exhibition: Museums, art galleries, galleries, etc. Use track lights with high color rendering index to truly restore the color and details of exhibits and protect the exhibits from damage by strong light.
• Residential Interior: Living rooms, dining rooms, studies, entrances, background walls, etc. Suitable for main-light-free design, creating a warm, simple and high-quality residential atmosphere, meeting the lighting needs of different areas (such as accent lighting for dining tables in dining rooms and accent lighting for desks in studies).
• Office Spaces: Open office areas, meeting rooms, libraries, office buildings, etc. Reduce glare through directional lighting, improve office comfort and efficiency, and create a simple and professional office atmosphere.
6. Installation & Usage Notes
• Track Installation: Fix the track to the ceiling or wall. During installation, confirm the load-bearing capacity to avoid track loosening; when wiring, pay attention to distinguishing the live wire, neutral wire and ground wire, ensure the wiring is firm, and prevent short circuits.
• Lamp Installation: Align the lamp connector with the track slot, insert it and rotate the lock to fix it, ensure that the conductive copper sheets are in good contact with the copper strips inside the track, and avoid the lamp not lighting or flickering due to poor contact.
• Loop Control: 3-wire and 4-wire tracks can realize group control. The lamps can be divided into different loops according to needs, and the lights of each loop can be controlled separately through switches or dimmers, improving the convenience of use.
• Dimming Operation: For track lights that support dimming, it is necessary to match the corresponding dimming driver and switch, and operate dimming according to the instruction manual to avoid lamp damage caused by using mismatched dimming equipment.
• Daily Maintenance: Regularly clean the dust on the surface of the lamp to avoid dust affecting the lighting effect; avoid the lamp being in a high-temperature and humid environment for a long time to extend the service life of the lamp; if the lamp flickers, does not light, etc., check the connector or driver in time.
